Welcome to Experience Easter!
This year over 2 billion Christians around the world will be celebrating Easter - the victory of Jesus Christ over violence and death.
2000 years ago Jesus of Nazareth, a travelling teacher and healer in what we now call Israel, came to Jerusalem to share his message of God's love breaking into the world.
He reached out to untouchables, healed the sick, challenged
injustice and enabled people to encounter God in new ways.
His enemies saw him as a threat to the political regime and plotted his death. Killed by being hung on a cross, Jesus' mission seemed to have ended in failure. His followers scattered, fearful of what might happen to them.
Yet just three days later these same frightened people were able to share the amazing news that Jesus had been raised to life by God. Their experience of the risen Jesus convinced them that he was indeed God's chosen one - sent to unite heaven and earth and to invite all who believe in him to know eternal life.
To Experience Easter is to experience the risen Jesus
touching our lives today and inviting us to share in his risen life.
